Private Pilot License Requirements - (FAR 61.109)
The FAA requires a minimum of 40 hours of flight time to receive a private pilot certificate. Ever student is unique, however. The average student usually requires 65-75 hours of flight training to become proficient.
A medical certificate issued by a FAA approved doctor is strongly recommended before you begin flight training. A medical certificate must be obtained before taking your Private Pilot Check-ride. We require the certificate before your first solo flight.
Ground Instruction is taught by your flight instructor before and/or after each flight. This not only prepares you for the required FAA written exam, but for practical purposes, it helps you to understand what you are doing when you are flying the airplane.
Formal Ground School classes are also available and are highly recommended.
